If you have hours to waste waiting for service then this is the place for you. Visiting from Chicago over the Over Labor Day weekend we had the bad luck of a flat tire around Munising. I was grateful to find a store open on the holiday so I had my van towed from Munising over to Wal-Mart for a set of new tires. We were told that there were two cars ahead of us and that this would take some time. This Wal-Mart has a three-bay service center and there were three auto techs working that day. We saw car after car move ahead of ours for service. Two hours went by and our van was still sitting outside. The customer line stared to build and pretty soon we were joined by others who were waiting hours for their tires and oil changes. To be sure I was rather firm that they move forward on servicing our van. I was told by the counter girl that we would be next. Another hour plus went by and finally our van was rolled in to the garage where it took another two hours to mount and balance 4 new tires. I have no idea what the other two technicians were doing that they couldn’t mount the tires. We thought we were done at the four hour mark when the technician came in to tell us that the battery was dead. Knowing that we had a seven hour drive ahead of us we didn’t want to take any chances so I bought a new battery. We’re grateful the tech brought it to our attention but it took another hour to swap out the battery. Five hours later we rolled out the door headed back to Chicago. It rained like crazy most of the way back so I’m glad we had the new tires and battery. There is simply no sense of urgency in the service techs at Wal-Mart and no one to complain to. They’re on their own schedule.
