I came to Woodbury Village Auto Works in hopes of finding an HONEST auto shop, as that is the number one thing I look for when allowing an auto shop to work on my vehicle. Unfortunately I found out quickly that Chris, the receptionist at the Woodbury location was NOT AN HONEST PERSON.
I had a few oil changes done and there were no problems other than them not resetting my oil change light. Shortly after Chris thought he gained my trust he told me I needed a ton of repairs. He told me I would need a $3,000 spark plug repair done in the near future, however my car did not display the signs Chris told me would be noticeable, such as the engine "chugging". That was the first red flag.
I took my car back to the Woodbury location because I noticed my heat was not blowing at my feet. Chris told me I needed a motor repaired that opened and closed the door to direct the air flow properly. I paid over $700.00 and the issue was not fixed. I brought my vehicle back to the Woodbury location and to my surprise it was VERY apparent that after they "fixed" my heat they had never tested it to make sure the door to direct airflow was working properly. I dropped my car off and was put on the back burner because they knew they wouldn't be making any money off of me on that day because it was their own fault the heat wasn't checked over properly.
At the time of drop off (early AM) I let Chris know I had a tire rotation appointment elsewhere at 1 PM and asked him if he thought my car would be done in time to make it. Chris responded by telling me he would just rotate my tires for free. I waited and waited for a phone call to let me know when I could pick up my car. I NEVER got a call and they kept my car OVERNIGHT WITHOUT TELLING ME. When I went to pick up my vehicle I had asked if the tires were rotated and Chris LIED TO MY FACE and told me they didn't need to be rotated even though it had been 5,000 miles since my last rotation. Chris told me the tred on my tires was fine. THIS WAS A BULLSHIT LIE. This is when I found out who Chris REALLY WAS. Instead of owning up to his mistake, he lied.
I didn't trust Chris so I took my car to have the tred measured and just as I had thought, my tires needed to be rotated. This is when I decided to contact one of the owner's, Calvin to let him know what horrible service Chris was providing for customers. When I spoke with Calvin, he convinced me to give the Roseville location a try. I had my oil changed there on 5/14/2018 and asked Ben for a quote for a repair because my tire sounded like it was making a grinding noise. I had dropped my car off and came back an hour and a half later. I was told I owed them $48.00 because they repaired my tire by pulling a piece of rusted metal out of the rotor. I told Ben that I had never asked them to fix the problem, only that I wanted a quote so I could get the repair done at a later date. I NEVER GAVE BEN APPROVAL to fix my car, I never even got a phone call to tell me what was going on with my tire yet he still tried to charge me.
I called Woodbury location the day after I had the incident at the Roseville location, and the receptionist I had issues with before, Chris, answered the phone. When I had asked for Calvin's number, Chris asked who he was speaking to and when I told him my name, Chris hung up on me. Chris then took the phone off of the hook so I was unable to reach him. Chris thought he could get rid of me by hanging up the phone, so unfortunately I had to take the time to drive up to Woodbury Village Auto works to get the phone number so I could contact Calvin again. Chris was nothing but rude and refused to give me Calvin's business card, instead he was shouting the phone number and when I told him I didn't have anything to write it down he sarcastically said "I gave you the phone number". The entire time I was there Chris had a bad attitude, lied and had a smirk on his face and continued to tell me he gave me the phone number already which he hadn't. After all that nonsense, Chris finally gave me a business card for Calvin.
Chris is the main reason I will NEVER TRUST Woodbury Village Auto Works. He is constantly coming up with outrageous repairs that he claims need to be done but don't. If you confront Chris on his mistakes he will never own up to them, he would rather MAKE UP A LIE. After calling for Calvin's phone number which should have been provided to me without incident, Chris's childish choices to hang up on me and then not return my phone call have proven what a lying ass child Chris is. He will do and say ANYTHING to make a couple extra bucks. I have seen many other reviews about Woodbury Village Auto Works and if it ANYTHING NEGATIVE it had to do with Chris.
If you decide to go to any Village Auto Works, I advise you get quotes from other auto shops. I was quoted $1,300.00 for a timing belt kit. I went to Maplewood Toyota and my repair was done for $650.00 and I actually didn't have to take it back because Maplewood Toyota actually fixed it the first time unlike Village Auto Works.
Village Auto works would definitely improve if Chris was not an employee there anymore.
Great experience with Village Autoworks in Woodbury. They correctly diagnosed my
2002 Ford Explorer problem (rough engine idle) and had it repaired in two days. Collin explained in detail what was wrong and gave me the option of doing nothing vs. getting it repaired. There was no pressure to fix the problem and he provided me with an exact quote on how much it would cost to do the repairs.
I would certainly recommend and return to have my vehicle repaired in the future.
