Jimmy is a trustworthy mechanic that does good work for a great price. I highly recommend him. He has serviced mine, my wife's, sons, and various friends vehicles.
Going to Sothern motor works is like having a mechanic in the family and that's just how they treat you jimmy and his team are very professional and very friendly I have been going to Sothern motor works for well over 10 years and now my son and daughter also go to them this is a great shop highly recommend thanks jimmy for getting my wife's air conditioning working just in time for summer
As a female, and as the daughter of the son of a mechanic, it's taken 14 years to find someone who I/we feel like I can trust.
My first time here was on Christmas Eve. Jimmy was amazing to work with. He cared about my finances and making sure I knew exactly what was wrong, what the issues meant, and what it would take to fix it and why. He was willing to work with me. The work itself has been great.
I'm on a new issue with my car (well, she IS getting older-1999), and immediately, I knew where I was taking her.
Great Place for service, on October 31, 2015 I took my brother's car in for service because of a noise, so the care needed a A/C compressor , which took about four to five hours. I needed to go and take care of some other stuff while the car was being repaired, so the owner, Jimmy let me use a car to go and take care of my other things, while they were repairing the car. I was recommended to Southern Motor Works about ten years ago and have been going there since, for my truck also. The person "Martie" who recommend me to Jimmy (Southern Motor Works) moved from Duluth to Kennesaw Georgia, where he drives from Kennesaw back to Jimmy (Southern Motor Works) to have his car worked on, so this tells you that Southern Motor is a good and honest place to bring your truck or car.. you will not go wrong. Thanks Southern Motor Works for all your great help last week..

Very Thankful Customer
I have been to the national chain autoshop before for my auto repair, but always ended up with more problems then I have started with. After I tried Southern Motor Works, I am very satisfied with their work, never have more issue after I left the shop, and it's an honest autoshop, Jimmy won't charge you for any uncessary repair, he will discuss in detail what you need and don't need to get your motor running smooth, and their rate is very reasonable. I have referred many of my friends to this shop and all of them were happy that I did because I have saved them money and they fell like they can trust the works that were done there.
I'm really glad that I found Southern Motor Works in Duluth, GA because Jimmy Tran is a really nice person and I like him a lot. He is easy to talk with and will listen to the problems you are having with your vehicle and he will find the best solution to fix it. I'm also glad I found a good old school mechanic that can work on old classic cars. I have a 1970 Cadillac Fleetwood Brougham and the mechanic fixed several things on my car that made it run very well again and at an affordable price. He will be my mechanic from now on as long as he's available. Thanks Jummy for the great work you and your mechanic did on my car.
They what need to be done to your vehicle. Jimmy is cool and payment is flexible. Free car lease if your car is in for heavy fix. Give southern motor works a try and see if you like it. Everyone is different.
Cheaper than dealership but got a new clunking now. Just spent $2600 getting a new transmission from them and now have a new clunk that they can't attribute to anything. Little suspicious that the engine motor mounts are not as tight as before the new transmission. Didn't have this clunking before. Wish they would have discussed the possibility of a new transmission not fitting as well as before and included motor mounts replacement in the total job for this amount of money.
Have used their garage before and prices are little less than dealership. Was ok with previous work from them. Now a bit wary since spending this much money and now having new problems.
Signing you in.
