I took in my 88 jeep wrangler and told him that I was getting smoke from the driverside tailpipe, the coolant was leaking some where, I needed him to put on manifold gaskets (that I provided), and to put on a set of headers that the previous jeep owner had included when I purchased it. I talked to ken, the owner. He said he would take care of it and call me the next afternoon. (This was a Thursday and to be called on Friday)... He called me Friday to tell me that he would look at it Monday.... I didn't hear from him Monday so I called him Tuesday... He said he hadn't had a chance to look at it because he had bigger projects come in and he had to fire his only mechanic.... I went in the shop the next day and he had finally brought it in the shop but was working on other trucks when I went into the bay area... He said he would get to it that afternoon... He didnt call the rest of the week and called on Monday saying that he would have to fabricate a pipe around the starter for the header.. I said ok and asked him if he looked at the other stuff, he said he would do that next. I waited until Thursday to hear from him again and stopped in the shop. He said he couldn't get the headers to fit. I asked him if it was still smoking and his new mechanic claimed he didn't see any smoke as they drove it out of the shop... I asked what I owed and he said "I have a lot of time and money into this project, 260+tax)..... Then he said there was another oil leak and that I needed to get that fixed. I paid and drove home but the smoke was still there. I popped the hood and it was full of smoke. That had never happened before. I called them up and took it back. Ken wouldn't come out to look at it but his new mechanic came out and witnessed the smoke and the spraying of oil under the hood. He said they would look at it. Next day I drove past and it was still sitting in the same spot outside.... Dripping oil. I went in and ken said he hadn't had time to look at it. I told him that he's had it for over two weeks now and that its not even near as good as it was when I brought it in. He said he'd look at it this afternoon and I told him "at no charge to me I hope" and he said depends on the problem, I'm not buying parts for it.... And he told me to not get pissy and he couldn't comprehend why I was ticked off. I received a call later that evening from his mechanic that said it was their fault and it was good to go. I drove it home again and still pouring oil and smoking. Worst shop I've ever seen. No wonder their lot always looks like a hunk yard rather than a real shop. I suggest never going to this place, I spend 281 bucks plus cost to repair what hr broke. He had even offered to buy my jeep from me. What a crook.
