We were several hours into our vacation when our 2000 Forester started losing power on the highway. Driving at 70 suddenly the car would slow to 55 with no change in pressure on the accelerator. It happened numerous times and alarmed us. Actually this had been happening for several weeks but our local mechanic checked out the car two days before our trip and could find nothing wrong. We called Chilson from the highway and they said they would try to squeeze us in. Judy, the service manager, was extremely nice and personable, and Dave, the mechanic, was quick to hone in on the problem . He showed us how he diagnosed the problem, he detected a bent tire rim through "feel" during the test drive (turned out it was an aneurism on the inner wall of a front tire -- as a stopgap he rotated the tires), and he gave us other service recommendations. We lost 2 hours on the road but gained peace of mind from finding and fixing the problem through quality service. It's likely our luck was due in part to the service load of that day, but we are very grateful at how efficient Chilson was in squeezing us in, how reasonable the charge was, and how pleasant the interactions. Wish we lived in Eau Claire!
