Dropped vehicle off for miscellaneous lights on dashboard and no speedometer. They lied throughout the whole process, replaced an unneeded part, had vehicle for for 4 days, and never resolved the problem. For instance, they told us they had a computer that dealerships had to identify the problem. but then they billed me to take vehicle to a dealership for the diagnostics. I caught Trevor Cain in numerous lies. He told me that he would call and update me and in four days he called me after I called him to check on the progress. On thursday morning I was told that they took it to a Ford dealership to get the ABS module reprogrammed and when I called back later he advised me that the problem still existed and from this point on they would have to charge me the hourly rate. I told him that I would come get the car and to stop the work. When I got their they presented me with a $650 bill. Being that the problem was not corrected I fell that this was excessive. The part that was replaced was $138.25 - so the rest of the bill is diagnostic and labor. The problem was never resolved so I asked for a discount they brought the bill down to $598. I still feel this is excessive. Before I paid the bill I requested to see the part they replaced and they said they would not show me the part until I paid the bill.I asked to speak with the owner and he would not allow me as he said he was the manager. Trevor was very unprofessional and lied throughout the whole process. He told us that he took the vehicle to Ford dealership and when the mechanic came to the counter I asked him where the diagnostic was done and he said that they had someone from Fenton come to do it. Bottom line I was charged for labor and diagnostics that never fixed the problem. I took my vehicle back to Houghton MI where I live and Copper Country Ford identified the problem immediately and replaced the ABS sensor on the right rear. If The Car Guys really did a diagnostic test on my vehicle this same error would have come up. Instead they replaced a part that was not needed to be replaced. Copper Country Ford ordered the sensor, installed it and found that the right rear bearing/ABS was defective so they replaced it. Total time in shop was a half day and the cost was half the cost at $301.00. Problem was corrected by Copper Country Ford and I spent almost $600 more than I needed to at The CAR Guys
After a year and a half I finally found a replacement engine for our Ford Escape that AngelaTC posted above. The Car Guys have been of no help on this. They seem to know their stuff on performance cars but look elsewhere for a mechanic to keep your used cars on the road
I had a Jeep that was running rough and had been to several shop with no luck and hundreds of dollars spent trying to find the problem. I called first to see if they felt that they could handle it and they said they have a jeep guy there and it wouldnt be a problem. they found a problem with a fuel injector, replaced it and its run great since. I was very happy they fixed my jeep.
These guys saved me thousands of dollars! My husband and I were about to trade in our Jeep because the transmission had been action up off and on for a year and the places we brought it to couldn't find anything wrong with it. We had just about given up on it, to trade it in for a van, when I decided to try one more place. They were up front with their pricing of $79 an hour, and told me they usually can tell with in 15 minutes if somethings wrong or not. I called them around 10:45...My husband drove it over to them at 11:30 and by 11:50 they had diagnosed it as having a wire that had come loose! They plugged it back up and the Jeep has been running like new ever since! And it cost us nothing! ( wouldn't let me put 0 for total cost) And I don't have a car payment that a van would have given me! I'm sure just like any mechanic place they have busy days and might not be able to get to a customer as fast as they did for us, but I would definitely recommend them to anyone I know.
so i brought my car to them with a starting problem. so i dropped it off with them and they said they would have it in in a couple of days to look at it and figure out what was wrong with it. so a few days go by and i dont hear from them, so i call and see whats going on. they say its getting looked at right now and should have the problem figured out soon, so i fine with that. i wait a few more days and call again and see whats happening and they say they think they know what it is (only to give me an answer so i would stop calling). so i call a couple days later and they say its in the garage and all apart and getting worked on right now and i ask what going on again but the only response like usual is im not the one incharge kelly is so i never directly talk to anyone who knowns whats actually going on. so i call day after day about it because they are leaving me in the dark about everyting and they actually say its getting put back together right now and should be done tomorrow day after day and on one glorious afternoon (after 2 weeks) i get a call from kelly and he finally says its my distributor and that the new one i had just replace 2 months ago was bad (it was a gm replacement part) so he says he'll put a new one on for me after he orders it. so after a couple days he calls and says the one that just came in the mail was damaged (bull shit he needed more time so he was just blowing me off). so i wait a few more days and he finally gets it and replaces the part. but i calls and says my ignition switch is now broken and needs to be replaced (what the fuck?? noting was wrong with it before) so they broke my ignition switch and they said i needed a new ignition cylinder (i didnt and to this day i still dont) said they could replace it for like 500 dollars plus the 900 for the distributor so i said no. i paid for the distributor replacement witch turned out to be a dsm part not gm like they promised, and had a buddy fix the ignition switch for like 50 bucks (including part). i got my car back with a big scratch on the wheel well and could not believe who fuck i got by them. the moral of this story is they are crooks and have terrible customer service. never go there please it would make me happy! :) thanks
We have had the Car Guys service both our vehicles since they opened. At first, their service was excellent, but as they grew bigger they began to care less. Prices got a little higher while services took a little longer. The last straw was an expensive one....in April of 2010 we had a new engine put in one of our cars. The engine came with a 1 year warranty. In March of 2011, the "Check Engine" light came on. Just coincidentally, we already had an appointment to get brakes done, and we instructed them to check the engine while it was there, specifically because the warranty was about to expire. They told us that they reset the light, but that it might come back on again, and if it did, it was nothing. However, less than a month later (and about a week after the warranty expired) the engine blew up again, and they refused to make any concessions at all towards a new one. We were good, steady customers but never again.
We took our 2002 Saturn L-200 in to have a vibration problem checked. We had taken it to a "tire" shop and purchased new wheels due to the original alloy wheels having corroded at the rims causing chronic air loss. This "tire" store tried to fix the problem on 3 diffrent trips to their shop without success. The Car Guys checked the balance of the new wheels (the tires were top of the line and were practically new.) They sent us to Discount Tire who ordered the correct wheel adapter rings, installed same when they came in which took care of the elusive problem. The Car Guys charged us a very reasonable fee for their services and we recommend them highly to anyone in the Brighton/ Howell/ Hartland area. We will certainly take our Saturn to the Car Guys if we should need repairs in the future! They had our car for an hour or so. We didn't check their hourly rate but we are sure it is competitive and reasonable. They could have charged us more, we're sure, but it would have been worth it!
