I have been going to Book Racing Inc. for over 20 years, now my kids have vehicles serviced there..I have never met more honest and perfessional auto mechanics..They do a great job at a VERY reasonable rate..
To address dlaude's review above...you are reviewing the wrong company. BRE is a custom competition carburetor/engine building and machine shop. Not an automotive repair shop. Book Racing Incorporated is a repair shop. BRI's mechanics have been doing this work for years and I trust them implicitly. Never once have I been disappointed. Yes, while they're more expensive than your typical run-of-the-mill car repair chain (i.e.: Pep Boys, Midas, CarX, Jiffy Lube, Merlin), I'd rather spend a little extra money on having competent, educated, experienced, passionate and, most improtantly, HONEST professionals working on my car than some cocky 17 year old high school student making minimum wage. I've used them on every single car I've owned since I was 18 years old. I'm now 29 and have moved over an hour away to the western suburbs and still make the hike out to their shop in Frankfort, even for a simple oil change. I trust no one else with my vehicles, and niether does my husband. I have nothing but the highest praises for the mechanics and the work they do. Also, a trans has zero to do with an oil filter. Do you really think that anyone (even the nit-witted teenagers working at Midas or Jiffy) could change out an oil filter and somehow damage a trans in the process? Give me a break. That's like saying that you went to the doctor for a flu shot and then blaming that same doctor when you're diagnosed with heart disease the next week. Sheesh.
Their hourly rate is nice but they nickel and dime you for everything. I went there 3 times, the first time I was satisfied (but still felt like they were taking a leisure stroll to replace an axel). The next two times they were clueless on what was wrong and charge me in excess of $500 and didn't even fix the problem!!!! After my first visit, when I was happy, I recommended a few family members there and they were as disappointed as I was after my second and third visits! This place is absolutely clueless on diagnosing issues. I know of TWO people that have gone in for simple oil changes but have come out with a clunky transmission. Then BRE charged them MORE to "fix" what they messed up in the first place! Not spending another dollar there and if you're looking for repair service I would not recommend this place at all. I can't speak for their performance aspect though.
Always helpful and honest...they do great work at very fair pricing...
