Any check engine lights ? It has a sencor to tell the motor it's cold and add more fuel . Kinda like choking it . When warm it doesn't need this and that's why it starts .

Hey Rick! Thanks for responding um no it don't show no check engine lights or nothing. Like I said its been a little cooler about the last week and it wont crank in the morning. But as soon as It warms up It cranks without any hesitation it barley even spins over. What kind of sensor are you talking about. Do you know the name of it.

Please clarify what you mean by "crank"? The word crank should only be used to describe what the starter motor does. The language of your sentences seems to be saying that the engine starter is not 'turning the engine" when it is cold but does "turn the engine" later on when it warms up. is this what you mean. That would be referred to as a "no crank" situation, 'the starter barely functions". Please clarify so we are on the same page.

I think I may have figured something out maybe you can tell me. As usual I got up this morn and its cool outside the truck would turn over and over and would not catch. It started up fine yesterday after it had been in the sun all day. In eve i could hear fuel pump come on, but this morn I couldnt hear the pump working. A friend told me to kinda hit on the gas tank a little. Well I did and low and behold I heard the pump kick on and I knew it would start at this point.

I guess Im wondering if I need to change the whole pump or you might think its a sensor or relay or something because for some reason the autoparts stores like their fuel pumps, they are really expensive. Fuel pump for this sonoma is 327.00 at autozone. However you can but the pump and sending unit seperatly and it only cost about 120.00 dollars any suggestions.

felplay auto repair.

before get a fuel pump make sure you have good fuel pressure, GMC fuel system have relay and oil pressure switch, if the relay fail while you are driving the truck will not cut off the fuel and it will start up when it's hot, but not when it's cold until the oil switch get pressure by cranking the engine for long..
