Why won't the plugs get power from the ignition switch?

For awhile I have had to press my key into the tumbler harder than usual, then it progressed to having to jiggle the key around to start it, finally it just stopped working all together, everything comes on except the engine, it won't even try to fire up. It's a brand new battery too.

Since the ignition cylinder / tumbler has shown signs of wear; key movement / jiggling - then it is time to replace this component.
Check these various on-line sources; for the replacement parts; www.autopartswarehouse.com, www.RockAuto.com, www.partsgeek.com - to list only a few.

They (RockAuto) list the ignition lock cylinder repair kit from around $45.00 for your vehicle.

Ignition tumbler / lock cylinder repair kit = MOTORCRAFT part# SW6285 - or it's equivalent
