Why won't my car idle?

I can start my car but I need to step on the gas to get it started. After it starts, the idle is sporadic and dies after a short time. I have checked the throttle body and it works fine. I have also added fuel cleaner. I can only drive it is by stepping on the clutch, brake, and gas at the same time or popping it into nuetral and stepping on the brake and gas at the same time so it does not die. I also have an exhaust leak. I'm not positive where the leak is at because I am more worried about my car not running. I had the engine replaced with an engine imported from Japan. The engine supposedly has between 30,000-60,000 miles. There have also been engine parts replaced on the new engine (too many to list). What is causing my car to die and what can I check to fix it?

I would start by checking for a large vacuum leak.
Hope this helps ;)
