2000 Dodge Intrepid ES 6 Cyl 2.70L

Preventive Maintenance

why wont my AC/Heater controls work even after I have changed the unit out with one that works.

Took a working unit out of a friends car that has the same model # as mine but it still does work. It only blows out of the defrost vents. when I put it in the defrost position, it blows hot. but when I put it in the dash/floor vents position it blows cold and only blows out of the defrost and floor. any help would be appreciated

I can tell you this already. The highest probable cause for this situation is a bad Body Control Module (BCM). To confirm this >>

1. Check the input from the switch. In the floor position the voltage should be approximately 0.89 volts. In the panel position the voltage should be 1.49 volts. In the defrost position the voltage should be 4.19 volts. If this is not changing, then it is a switch circuit problem.

2. Check the output to the mode door. In the floor position the voltage on the mode door feedback circuit should be approximately 2.0 volts. In the panel position the voltage should be 4.35 volts, in the defrost position the voltage should be 0.27 volts. If this is not changing, then the motor is not moving or the BCM is not driving it.
