2001 Honda Prelude Base 4 Cyl 2.20L

Brakes

What can cause a wobble while driving?

A while back my BF did the front brakes on my 2001 Prelude. (Car does not have original brake set up, it is aftermarket and does not require the specialty tool to remove the brakes.) The rotor on the passenger side was shot. Rather than get a new one he used one his friend had that was off of a Honda CRV. They appeared exactly the same. After everything was back on it seemed fine. Within a day the frontend started to wobble while driving. Feels like there is a bump or something on that front passenger side. The steering wheel will rock back\forth as the tire turns. Turing the car towards the right side makes the wobble lessen.
What is going on here? I've been told it could be the replacement rotor was a "long" rotor. My BF thinks it is the axle, specifically the U joint in the axle and that the full axle needs to be replaced.
Please help before he dismantles and destroys my car.

Simple repair, replace both of the front brake rotors with new ones that are correct for your vehicle - at the same time.
Do not use any used parts for the brake system - ever - for safety sake.

The front brake rotors are inexpensive. Advise that your BF keep away from repairing your vehicle.

Try these various on-line parts sources; www.autopartswarehouse.com, www.partsgeek.com, www.rockauto.com - to list only a few.

In fact, they (RockAuto) list the front brake rotor from around $15.00 each for your vehicle.

Front brake rotor = Raybestos part #9177R - or their equivalent
