1995 Honda Civic DX 4 Cyl 1.5L

welded nut broke off, can't get bolt out lower control arm. It is the top bolt attached tot he frame. Now what?

There are no rules here regarding how to get out of a jam like the one you detail. You use any and all methods. If you absolutely cannot get to the spinning nut that broke the weld, that may mean that you use a sawsall and gut the bolt or that may mean you make a hole adjacent to the spinning nut and then use a vice grip to hold the nut from spinning. There are so many hundreds of complications that we run into as mechanics and there is no substitute for a mechanic seeing with his own eyes the problem you are detailing to receive advice on what to try first. That being said, figure out a way to prevent the normally stationary nut from spinning. There are no rules.

Thank you for your reply. I appreciate it. My approach is going to cut a 1 3/8 hole in the subframe part to be able to get a 1 1/8 ratch through the hole to connect to the spinning nut. Talked to a mechanic at the Honda Dealership and he said this is a common problem. For replacing the hole, I am having a friend weld the piece back on. I thought about cutting the bolt but would still have the issue with replacing and/ or getting to the nut in the frame. The dealership wanted $15 for a bolt!
