Warning Message: Service Brake System

When Vehicle is running/driven the "Service Brake System" warning message will come. I have been told by dealer the computer for brake system needs replacing at a cost of $1300, I have also read that a simple ground wire had come loose. Have anyone else had this problem & what was your solution?

Did you try to diagnose your vehicle with a scan tool capable of reading ABS trouble code to verify if there is a stored trouble code?

No i did not. would this be a dealer only type tool or would the local auto parts store have them available?

If possible check out the 331 TSB's and 6 Recalls for your vehicle, it might help you with your current vehicle problem or in the future. Just visit this link http://www.automd.com/recall-tsb/search/ and click the title of the TSB or Recall to see its summary or content.

looked at all 23 pages did not see anything directly related nor any keyword that would make me look at indirect issures concerning "service brake system". thanks will look at other option/advice if you have any.
