1992 Mercedes Benz 400E Base 8 Cyl 4.2L

Transmissions & Drivetrains

My transmission is slipping in reverse only, what could be causing this?

I can back in reverse only on level ground. I have to wait about 4-5 seconds then the car starts to move in reverse on level ground.

Your transmission slips or won't go in reverse? Low Transmission fluid is the common problem of slippage, refer to your owner's manual, find the location of your transmission fluid dip stick and check the fluid level. Add fluid if low, and test your transmission for a few miles of rides. It's just for the fluid, try it if it works.
