Richard McGinley 3/18/2010I'm thinking that the Syncro's for the 1st & 2nd gear are worn. I have done some research on this and have found that it is a common issue w/this specific year/model Jeep .I believe The only fix is a re-built (Through a reputable tranny shop) or a New transmission. ???????
Chris2000 3/19/2010Rich sounds like you've done your research and makes sense that the transmission may have to be rebuilt replaced. I would say just check the fluid level, if its low add some gear oil. And you could try bleeding the clutch, assuming its hydraulic, to see if that helps but sounds like you may have all ready checked these out. Chances are slim of any of these since its only happening between 1&2 it definately sounds internal..
