Timing belt, valve timing

I did a timing belt service on the 4.2 40 valve engine natural aspirated i had locked the crank 1 tooth retarded from tdc by mistake. Did the belt and rotated the engine and it would only rotate 3/4 of the way and stopped. . I back it up a touch and without thinking removed the belt and cams rotated. I pulled valve covers and rotated cams and did everything imaginable and could not get the crank back to tdc. Next step i removed the cams to be sure valves are all closed put pressure in cylinders and dont seem to be any bent valves however after removing the cams i get less rotation of the crank then when i had the cams in place. I looked in the cylinders wit a borescope and they look fine. WHATS STOPPING THE ROTATION im bedide myself
