2011 Audi A4 Quattro Base 4 Cyl 2.00L

Can a slipped or broken timing belt cause damage to the engines wiring?

2 weeks ago my Audi A4 started leaking coolant and I was able to drive it to the shop without a problem. Upon inspection they told me the water pump went out along with the timing belt. I ended up leaving my car there and they gave me an estimate of $2,000 of repairs. I left it at the shop for a week and in that week they never called me to give me an update on my car so I had to call them to ask what was going on and when I went to picked up my car they told me the timing belt slipped and caused damage to the engine wiring and connectors. They went and replaced that also along with the oil change without my authorization. At the end I had to pay $3800 for other repairs that they didn't even call me to authorize.

Sounds suspicious - did anyone explain to you / show you exactly how the engine wiring and connectors may have been affected by the engine timing? You are not expected to pay for any repairs to which you did not agree nor authorize.
