2000 Mercury Cougar V6 6 Cyl 2.50L

Transmissions & Drivetrains

I cannot shift my car into any gear. I can push the clutch and it starts and if you put it in gear b4 you start it move

It is just like the clutch is not engaging I thought it might be the clutch cable but there is no clutch cable on that car. Any ideas?

What is the slave cylinder and could it possibly be the linkage? What is the clutch fork for?

Most clutches now are hydraulic that use brake fluid, resevoir should be located next to the master cylinder, clutch fork is in the bell housing by the clutch it disengages the clutch as the pedal is pushed down
