Why does my Ion suspension rattle over bumps?
In the last year I've replaced the struts, sway bar links and bushings, and control arm bushings. My Ion still rattles going over any bumps, right front only. I'm thinking I'll do the strut mounts but I'm running out of ideas. Any thoughts?

Several possibilities; strut mounts, bushings, wheel bearing. Have you raised the right front to inspect the condition? Use the 'How-To-Guides' feature on the AutoMD website for steps to diagnose and repair.

Was I cheated by having both front Wheel bearings changed when only one was faulty?
There was a loud noise coming from the front end when driving. I had a Wheel bearing replaced 5 years ago (cant remember which side) so I recognized the noise. Repair shop drove the car and figured it was coming from right side. They changed the bearing on the right ...

Always replace both wheel bearings in sets or pairs - due to age / mileage / wear considerations.

Check the various on-line vendors; www.autopartswarehouse.com, www.RockAuto.com, www.partsgeek.com, to list only a few. For example, they (RockAuto) list the front wheel bearing / hub assembly from around $59.00 each for your vehicle.

Why does my car make a deep noise when I turn the steering wheel?
Every time I turn the steering wheel while parking or pulling out, the car makes a deep moaning noise. It doesn't make a difference what time of year it is, it happens all of the time. The sound is definitely coming from the steering mechanism.

Does it still steer ok ? Or is it harder than normal ? My first guess would be the power steering pump is weak and at low speeds or stopped with low rpm's it's not putting out pump pressure like it should . Start there .

5 days after buying a vehicle you have no power steering and they will not fix it? That is so wrong and should not depend on a recall or TSB. What if any warranty was stated when you bought this vehicle? 30 days no? Oe bought as is?

The recall that exists for a power steering leak on this vehicle is limited only to checking for a loose nut where the hose attaches to the power steering pump which does not involve hose replacement which is what you need apparently.

Squeaky (like a spring) sound from front when applying brakes
I had shop check brakes, said they were OK, They say it is the sway bar/engine cradle fittings etc. are worn. Will cost $2200 to repair with used parts since new are no longer available. I don't understand how these suspension parts can cause the noise only when ...

Difficult to determine the source of the noise via the internet and the description provided. The replacement parts are available as new - try these sources; www.partsgeek.com, www.rockauto.com, www.discountautoparts.com, www.autopartswarehouse.com, www.jcwhitney.com - to list only a few possibilities. For example, the sway (stabilizer) bar bushings are readily available - cost around $1.60 per set from RockAuto (yes - less than two dollars!). These items are easily and inexpensively replaced - can be done at home to save cost.

I'd recommend a second opinion / estimate from another source - and obtain a written and detailed estimate to include all needed parts to repair the issue you are having.

This system has an extended warranty coverage of 10 years or 100,000 miles. If you are within this you can likely get the power steering fixed for free. contact saturn corporate.
