When the PCM detects a short, short to ground, short to power then DTC A753 is flaged the shift solenoid is in the valve body in the transmission.

Its a torque converter sensor or switch

    • TechSam
      11/14/2010 TechSam
Torque converter is nither sensor nor a switch, its is a big bowl like, sealed, with fins inside it for the tranny fluid to create vortex flow in it for OD over drive. Torque converter is driven by the engine and connects to the tranny.

    Vibration at specific speeds?
The vibration is felt mostly at speeds 40-45MPH and 65-75MPH, and felt through the seats. It started a few months ago, without warning. There are no lights on, no check engine, nothing.

Vibration at a certain speed indicates some thing in your vehicle which turns being out of phase such as tires might need balancing.

My car has no dipstick from manufactuer for trans fluid...
How do I check fluid level without going to the dealer?

    • Zac

On these transmissions there is no dipstick. There is a red cap right on top of transmission under wrap around exaust manifold. I suggest you wear a glove it will be hot. You have to lift vehicle and ensure it is level and on the passenger side of transmission next to the drive axle outlet, right above the transmission fluid pan, there is a little screw you take out. With transmission warm, engine running, fluid should just be trickling out, if it pours out it is overfilled. Pour transmission fluid in it till it just trickles out.

Cruise control cuts out in the rain...
My cruise control works wonderfully in dry weather, but in the rain it kicks itself off. The rainier it is, the more it does this. Is there a sensor or relay getting wet and failing? I have tried to take it in to a mechanic but keep getting the same response, "I ...

Will not move in drive or reverse
Everything was fine until I stopped for gas. And then it wouldn't move. I had no indication of anything being wrong until that point. What would cause this?

Check the condition of your brake light switch behind your brake pedal, it may be faulty.

How does the brake light switch effect the transmission? If the brake was on I could still feel the car want to move. The car goes into park and neutral fine

Does the vehicle speed sensor have anything to do with the cruise control on a 1993 Pontiac Bonneville?

Every VSS vehicle speed senosr has to do with the cruse control, if the cruse control doesnot get signal from the VSS it cannot set the cruse.

Trans slips in OD after driving at hiways speeds.
Transmission slips when warm and in OD. RPMs will gradually increase at times, up to 5000 rpm. Engine temp also goes up at this time. Pull over and let car idle for about 10 min and then it will operate normally for a few more miles. Today i tried shifting into ...

I want to add a transmission conditioning cleaner to my transmission fluid, but cannot find the cap - where?
Mechanic says there is a slight transmission leak, no way to check transmission level unless we do a full flush and fill. Not going back! Once I find the cap I plan to check it for the correct level as per repair iinstructions. I can't quite identify where the cap ...

On the transmission itself, close to the back of the filter and pan, there is a check plug. This plug, when opened, should be filled to just overflowing.

      1. Jack your vehicle up or raise it on a lift, but it needs to be level so the fluids are level as well.
      2. Open the check plug on the transmission.
      3. Start your engine and shift the transmission into neutral. The transmission fluid should be at the level of the opened check plug.
      4. If the fluid is lower than the check plug, or no fluid drips out, fill the transmission fluid until it just seeps out.

There is no dipstick, but there is a cap to fill transmission fluid accessible from under the hood. It is located on the right side of the engine bay between the power steering pump and the intake box.

Don't wait until the sensor goes off to check/replace transmission fluid. Wear gloves please

you will have to carry to dealer could be bad key or lock cylinder

Nope, ya don't need the dealer. You need to do a Passlock relearn. Try this for some joy >>

Perform the Passlock learn procedure as follows: 1. Turn ON the ignition, with the engine OFF. 2. Attempt to start the engine, then release the key to ON. The vehicle will not start. 3. Observe the SECURITY telltale, after approximately 10 minutes the telltale will turn OFF. 4. Turn OFF the ignition, and wait 5 seconds. 5. Repeat steps 1 through 4 two more times for a total of 3 cycles/30 minutes. 6. The fourth time the engine is cranked, it should start and run.

Transmission fluid is coming out of dipstick. It is not overfull. What is wrong?

I believed the fluid level is more than full otherwise the transmission cooler is clogged or its passage and the fluid pressure forcing the fluid to go out through the dipstick passage. Did you notice any irregularity in function of the transmission, like gear slippage or noise maybe? Try to give us further details with this so we're able to help you in diagnosing the trouble. Is the check engine light comes on?

All transmissions are vented to release pressure to the atmosphere. Locate vent tube on case to see if it is clogged or restricted. Any overfill should be exiting from that vent hose. Otherwise take MOONSTER TOOLZ advice. Try easy first.

Tranny makes a clunking noise when in park or neutral
will not shift into higher gear unless I let off the gas so the rpms drops then it will shift into second same with third. If i do not let off the gas and let it shift that way, the engine will continue to just race at higher rpm's.
