The short time period of six months is not long - how many miles are in these six months? Second question, were the brake rotors replacement as equal or better quality than the original equipment (OEM) type? If not, then at the next brake rotor replacement - make sure the brand and type is equal or better than the OEM type that was originally installed on the vehicle when new.

Generally, the brake rotors should last a lot longer than the brake pads - they do not usually have to be replaced as frequently. Have you checked the brake calipers - to make sure the piston is fully retracting - and not causing excess wear or drag on the brake pads - which would cause the rotors to warp due to the heat / friction build-up?
Try the many on-line auto parts sources; such as, or for the replacement parts.
Check the 'How-To-Guides' feature on the AutoMD website for specific steps to inspect and replace the brake rotors and components.

Yes they should have . But if the rotors are warping that fast there is something else going on . Could be the calipers are hanging up and this would cause the problem .

What do I need to fix?
When I bought the car my tires were low on thread so I thought this was why I had to floor the break pedal to stop and when slowing down it jerks. I bought two used front tires and new brakes for the front and the problem was not as bad as before. I took it to the ...

      Until someone volunteers this on the 'How-To-Guides' on the AutoMD website, you may access the instructions to replace brake lines on this website;

Assuming this is a brake hose and not the tubing, does AutoZone provide specific or generic instructions? The guide on AutoMD is generic.

Brake line connections are very important to get right for your safety. There is tubing you can purchase and a ferreling (flaring tool) tool that can be rented or purchased. This can be over the head of many weekend mechanics.

What do i have to do to fix the trac off light i understand it has to do with a sensor in the front left wheel

You cannot guess at it. you need to know the fault code that is stored in the abs module. The usual cause can be a bad front wheel speed sensor but hey, there is a left and a right. You cannot possible know which one is your cause. You have a 50/50 chance. If the left one was replaced in '09 then it would be more likely that the right one would be the cause this time, buy hay, ya never know. My advice, have someone with a code reader that is able to read gm abs codes read the codes for ya. or buy your own abs code reader and read them yourself.

Why does my Brake dash light come on while I'm driving?
In June the Brake dash light (the same one that comes on when the emergency brake is pulled) started coming on when I would make left turns. It didn't do it all the time, usually just around big turns and it would often go off on it's own a few seconds later or if I ...

See this picture Master Cylinder (Brake System)
For your 2003 Oldsmobile Alero 2.2L MFI DOHC 4cyl

Check the brake fluid level, it could be low and it triggered the brake fluid level sensor or the sensor failed to function.

Bleeding the anti-lock brake system is really not much different than a standard braking system although we should still use caution. You're going to want to make sure that the key is off and it's probably a good idea to remove the ABS relay as well as the fuse.

      See this video clip............

The easiest way to bleed the ABS unit is with a Tech2. I'm not sure if there are other ways to do it, I've never needed to bother because I have the proper tooling to do it the way GM specifies it should be done. ABS bleeding should be done first, as it pushes air from the BPMV into the steel lines, then conventional bleeding after that.

I put a new brake line on it and now breaks ain't workin. Am I suppose to bleed breaks?
Peddle has no pressure. They worked fine b4 I put new break line in
    • Jimm
      8/25/2012 Jimm
Yes, anytime the brake system is opened - the residual air must bled out of the brake lines and components first before driving. Air is compressible and fluid is not.
Check the 'How-To-Guides' feature on the AutoMD website for the specific steps to properly bleed the brake system.
      8/25/2012 dylann
Ok. But I was. Messin with it tryin to pump the breaks a lot . Would that wreck nething?
      8/25/2012 Bill
Do as Jimm suggests. It should not hurt too much, just bleed that caliper you hooked new brake line to with someone gently pressing brake pedal as you open bleeder valve, don't let master cylinder reservoir run out of fluid while doing this.

New rotors and new brake pads and one new caliber when I brake at high speeds my steering wheel shakes
Steering wheel didn't shake till I got the new pads and rotors should I take it back to the shop
    • steelgunner
      7/31/2012 steelgunner
possible the only way to shake is if ur rotors is warped or when u placed it properly a good technique is when u place ur new rotor ,place ur lug nut in place to held ur rotor in so it is secure and is stable while u place back the caliper but since u drove it already its best to get a new one because eventually ur rotors are now warped and in the naked eye urs wobbled and warped get a new one and start over this time use at least 2 lugs nut just use ur fingers to tighten it up to hold the rotr in place thats all

Was installed by professional two different sets of rotors installed don't know if he installed HS wrong or what decided to go back to shop that replaced them
      8/4/2012 alero2003
Could be they installed low quality rotors?
      8/5/2012 steelgunner
have them redo your brakes metallic brakes is good last longer 4-5 years range but gives off asbestos concentrate not good for healthwise ,semi metalic is better range 3-4 years at least asbestos is less ,ceramic pads no asbestos very quiet but breaks off due to high temperature range 2- 3years .plus have them install any shims or anti rattle clips with some anti seize grease lubricant that comes with the brakes very helpful they are dampeners keep the vibrations or noise minimal.
      8/5/2012 steelgunner
yes also due to low quality rotors they too are warped 2 things they will do either they will get a new one including new pads or machine the rotors that is warped and used the recently pads(this is wrong placing back your most recent brake pads are contoured with the bad rotor therefore have them get new pads for the machined rotors) otherwise the noise is back. this should do the trick hopefully this helps and give you an idea drive safe

Brake vacuum booster backchek valve plastic fitting broke
backcheck plastic fitting going into booster broke off and fell into booster will it cause any problems to leave it in booster can't get out
    • Jimm
      6/18/2012 Jimm
The piece may lodge inside the booster to cause problems - better to remove the booster housing and remove the plastic piece.
