What would the relation between the air conditioner and the idling of the engine?
When air conditioning is on and the car is idling (not moving forward) the engine will idle ruffly. If the air is shut off the engine will idle normally.

The idle air control (IAC) valve is located on the throttle bore (in most cases) and is designed to adjust engine air intake at idle which controls the engine idle speed. The PCM receives feedback data from various sensors to send output signals designed to adjust the air passage open or closed which adjusts the engine idle speed. At engine speeds above idle, the valve is not used and does not effect the engine. Engine idle speeds are not adjustable.

When an idle air control valve get dirty or fails it can cause the engine to idle erratically and even stall. Sometimes a weak idle air control motor will can cause engine problems without triggering a MIL (check engine) light. Inspect vacuum lines when servicing the idle air control valve and replace any that are broken or dilapidated.

As the first step - clean the IAC and throttle body, and the MAF sensor using a sensor-specific aerosol spray. Make sure the air cleaner / air filter is clean.

Check the various on-line vendors;,,, to list only a few. For example, they (RockAuto) list the idle air control (IAC) valve from around $42.00 for your vehicle.

I'd have to make sure the battery has a full charge. All battery connections clean and tight. Use a digital multimeter across battery posts, everything off, what is the reading?

Some makes and models, if battery voltage is lost it might effect your security system, where applicable.

If starter motor issue, check voltage and ground for the starter motor. Any testing at the starter make sure the tranny is in park or neutral and the parking brake is set.

A code P0401 most likely means one or more of the following has happened:
The DPFE (differential pressure feedback EGR) sensor is faulty and needs to be replaced
There is a blockage in the EGR (tube), most likely carbon buildup
      The EGR valve is faulty
The EGR valve may not be opening due to a lack of vaccuum

P0420 code means that the vehicle's control module has detected that the three-way catalytic converter is not working properly (is not as efficient as the factory is expecting).
Replacing the oxygen (O2) sensors may sometimes fix the code, but in most cases the catalytic convert needs to be replaced to fix the problem.

Note: If the P0420 code is combined with other codes, try fixing the code P0401 first.

Oil is pooling under my air filter, and white smoke comes out of exhaust with every start. PCV valve?
I put 3 quarts of oil in my car on Thursday and had to add another yesterday morning. What's going on with my car, and is it safe to drive?

pull the pcv valve you should only be able to blow one way through it it you can blow both ways its bad. check with it running how much is blowing through that hose if its to the point where oil is blowing out too it is likely that the engine is wore out. white smoke is usally antifreeze what color was the oil clear or black is good the color of coffee with creamer in it and frothy is antifreeze in the oil. whitch is a headgasket and possably and crack in the head. also check the antifreeze for oil in the top of the radiator.

      Try this tip.

First, check the battery and starter cables for their tightness or free of corrosion and physical damaged.

See this Starting system simplified diagram. Have a help from an assistant to crank the engine, use a 12 volt light tester or a digital voltmeter, apply it to the starter control circuit.
If there is light or 12 volts and the starter isn't cranking, then the starter is the culprit. Have the starter to bench test for free at the local auto parts stores.
If there isn't no light or no volts, then the ignition switch is the culprit.
Check the starter relay and position the Automatic transmission shifter in neutral.

Note: a 3/4 charge battery is 12.50 volts
A discharge battery is 11.75 volts.
A battery under a cranking load and it is reading less than 7 volts,it will be a recycled battery.

Too low of battery voltage can allow the starter motor to try work but the lack of voltage causes the click instead of the familiar sound of th engine cranking over (and then starting) Have you tried to jump start it? If jumping it allows the engine to crank over normally and start you may simply have a case of a discharged battery. The battery on that car is hidden in front of the LF wheel but there is a jump start terminal / post to attach the positive jumper cable to and a bare bolt with a double nut nearby on the LF strut tower (painted surface near the LF fender) to connect the negative (black) jumper cable to. A low battery can be anything from "I left my headlights on" to an alternator that isn't charging the battery. Depending on how low the battery's voltage is, you may see the headlights work (hard to tell how much voltage the battery has by simply looking at headlights) and the starter just make one click, or the starter make several clicks rapidly or even the starter actually crank the engine but VERY slowing which doesn't always allow the engine to start.
