Does the car make a whining noise when trying to steer? May be low on power steering fluid. When the new pump was installed, it should have immediately been followed up with a power steering fluid bleed which involves numerous startups and turn off a with turning the steering wheel back and forth. Drive belt tension may also be loose due to worn drivebelt tensioner

      1) The belt broke, or popped off. This is a simple fix.

      2) The fluid is low/gone. This is a problem that can only temporarily be fixed by adding more fluid, since it is leaking. Unfortunately adding fluid is a chore in this car, and will require a hose and funnel. If you do add some fluid and it works, check for system leakage to see why it was so low.

      3) Your power steering pump has failed. The bearings could have seized, or the pump could have malfunctioned in some other capacity.

Losing the power steering is a common problem with this vehicle.

I have replaced 10-12 pitman arms over the past 6-7 years. Why are they breaking? What can I do to fix the problem.
I have tried several brands....all the outcome is the same. Lasts about 3mo.

I replaced power steering unit with a rebuilt unit. Started engine a now power to steering.

Sometimes, you can operate the power steering pulley with belt off, engine off. take return line loose, aim down into container, rotate pulley with your hand, any fluid come out of return line? Usually the return line doesn't have much if any pressure on it. Check the hoses, make sure they are not blocked. On the supply line, make sure no pressure on it before completely taking it off.
