P1793 = Transmission Control Module Stack Overrun

      Circuit Description
The engine control module (ECM) sends wheel speed data to the transmission control module (TCM). The data is sent to the TCM through a communication network called the controller area network (CAN). Two circuits are used to communicate CAN data between the ECM and TCM. A fault in the CAN will not cause DTC P1793 to set by itself. If a CAN fault occurs, other DTCs will set before DTC P1793.

When the TCM receives invalid wheel speed data from the ECM, then DTC P1793 will set. DTC P1793 is a type C DTC.

      DTC Descriptor
This diagnostic procedure supports the following DTC:

      DTC P1793 Wheel Speed Signal

      Conditions for Running the DTC
      • The engine run time is at least 6 seconds.

      • No other CAN errors are present.

      Conditions for Setting the DTC
The TCM receives no valid wheel speed data from the ECM for 2 seconds.

Action Taken When the DTC Sets
      • The TCM does not request the ECM to illuminate the malfunction indicator lamp (MIL).

      • The TCM inhibits Autograde braking.

      • The TCM records the operating conditions when the Conditions for Setting the DTC are met. The TCM stores this information as a Failure Record.

      • The TCM stores DTC P1793 in TCM history.

Why does my car slam in gear when I shift into reverse gear?
My SRX has about 90,000 miles. I have noticed withing the last 10,000 miles that there is a lamming sensation when it is shifted into reverse gear. recently had the transmission fluid and filter changed and it still slams into reverse.

Sub-zero temps tranny slow to engage in forward or reverse.no fault codes or engine lite on.
135k miles,2nd owner,no tranny fluid leaks evident, when temps exceeds 40 degrees then vehicle will move.

First step - check the transmission fluid level and refill as necessary. The noted slow to engage is not a good indication. How many miles on the transmission? How many miles since the last service; fluid and filter change?

135k miles on vehicle and I am 2nd owner just brought it and unsure on last service or fluid/filter change.

Front left wheel heats up quickly smokes and seems to be binding
Have changed caliper and pads made no difference. Changed wheelbearing hub no difference. Could the front wheel drive mechanism heat up that much?

What would put my car into limp mode and how do I fix it?
I cant afford to take it to the shop but I do have some mechanical experience and have some money for parts. The car is revving high(3000 rpm at a bout 35-40 mph). And won't pass 35- 40 mph. Only catches in second gear but park, neutral, and reverse still work.

You have no choice on taking it to a repair shop or dealer

You need professional tools, knowledge, experience & lots
of info to learn the vehicles systems before you even start
      testing for a problem

      Sounds like a failed transmission

That with be $3,500 to rebuild or install a reman

      Now What ??

How do i troubleshoot my Cadillac DeVille that surges after a couple minutes of starting?
My Caddy stopped running for a week. Went and brought new battery, plugs and wires. After i put those in it started right away, but after being on for about 5 minutes it acts like it wants to die again and it starts surging for a couple of minutes then dies.

With what I've read it seems like you have tryed a few things and the only other thing I can think of without actually driving the vehicle is possibly a motor mount is bad, a strut is loose, Have you had your vehicle looked at at a suspension shop?
