    ABS instrument light stays on , car does not stop as it should
    Replaced a steel brake line , plus wheel calipers and wheel brake lines on front , because the brakes were locked on , was told this would fix problem , did not work . What do I do now .

      hey roberto here is something else you can look at
      ABS light comes on with ignition then should go off when you start the car.
      If abs sensor does not turn off after disconnecting the battery, then there is a real problem, a faulty sensor or ABS malfunctioning.
      When the ABS led comes on immediately after you start the car and stays on usually is one of the relays.
      The main one is called surge arrester relay, if it is faulty usually there have been anovervoltage.
      There should be two more, usually located behind the black plastic cover of the ABS.
      Testing and changing the faulty relay can fix the problem.

      If light turns off on startup, and comes back on when you reach some speed, usually you need to check the wheel sensors. You test them unplugging the sensor located behind the wheel and testing it for continuity with a multimeter.

      Your OBDII meter is not able to read the ABS codes, different module, different scan tool.

      On this part I would insist that you look at the exploded views on the dealers parts screen and verify what you need. I believe the dealer is the only place you will get the correct part.

      It is at the top of the brake pedal pivot bracket. The hardest part will be the awkward position you have to lay in while working with your hands reaching up under the dash.

    Hello My emergency brake will not disengage when I put the car form park to drive.
    I have to reach under the dash above the brake and manually do it.

      there is a vacuum actuator that releases the brake sometimes it goes bad

    How long does the factory breaks for 2005 cadillac cts last?
    When i bought it from the dealer it had new breaks, i had the car for 1-1/2yr

      Factory brakes last around 28K - 38K miles. This depends if city driven or mainly hiway driven. years have nothing to do with it .

    Why do I hear air when I press the brakes.
    I press the brakes and hear air leaking and can barely stop my vehicle.

      It indicates that there is air in your brake fluid lines. Have someone bleed the air out of your brake lines as soon as possible.

      A basic explanation: There is a set of liquid-filled tubes (brake lines) going from near your brake pedal to each of your wheels. By pressing on your brake pedal you force liquid down these tubes, forcing a brake pad against each wheel and stopping your car. As long there are no bubbles of air in any of the tubes then this works great... Brake fluid with no air in it is firm, meaining that any movement at one end of a tube causes the same amount of movement of fluid at the other end. So pressing firmly on your brake pedal makes the brake pads press firmly against the wheels, safely stopping your vehicle.

      However, if there is any air in a brake line, then part of the movement of your brake pedal is used up trying to squeeze the brake fluid to make it firm enough to move the brakes pads. The wheezing noise - the "air" you hear - is the compression of those bubbles, a sure sign of this problem. The process that removes these bubbles is called 'bleeding' your brakes.

      Thank you so much for helping me. I have searched all over the internet trying to get some information on this problem. I noticed earlier today that my brakes didn't feel right. The pedal was too soft and then the brake would engage. Later in the day suddenly I had barely any brakes and when I pressed the pedal all I heard was air until I took my foot off of the brake. I did manage to get the vehicle home and park it. I tried later and still the same problem no brakes, air leaking sound.

      If it was the brake line hose that failed You should replace all brake hoses. If it is the steel line that failed It probably rusted thru. You need to replace all brake lines if one has already failed.

      Ceramic pads are always a good choice however only when the rotors are resurfaced or replaced. I do not recc installing ceramic pads on unfinished rotors.
