Why does the fuse for my interior lights keep blowing ?
ive tried unplugging each one of the lights one by one to see if the problem was from one light in particular but the fuse keeps blowing anyway
    • Blackwater

If a fuse keeps blowing, it usually means something is amiss in the circuit. The wiring should be checked along with the components in the circuit to determine if there's a short or other problem.

The fuse for the windshield wiper circuit, for example, may blow if ice or debris builds up in the cowl areas and interferes with the movement of the wiper arms. If a fuse blows in a motor circuit (heater blower motor, cooling fan motor, power seat or window, electric fuel pump, etc.), it often indicates a shorted motor. If a fuse in a light circuit blows, look for wiring or connector shorts. Adding driving lights may also overtax the headlight circuit unless a separate circuit is provided for the driving lights. An A/C fuse will blow if the system is low on refrigerant and is working unusually hard, or if the compressor is hanging up. Stereo systems with high amp boosters should also have their own electrical circuit with fuse protection to avoid overloading the normal radio circuit.

If the gears are stripped or the motor burned out you will have to find a good used sunroof. It isn't real hard to change. It's better to have 2 people just because it's bulky.

    Cruise Control on/off switch
How do you remove the cruise on/off switch which is mounted in the steering wheel on a 2000 Cadillac Deville? Also my trim color is gray what is the trim code number?

Just moved your question here Willie

      Hello Bud,

Check your cruise control cable it may be frayed, about your switch there are two screws in the back of your steering wheel remove those and you can get to your controls you have to be careful not to trigger the air bag while you are doing it. try your auto store for that color.

If you cannot do it someone else can. Try penetrating oil, maybe air tools. The bolts may even break but you can buy new if needed.

How do we get into the mirror to put screws back in
My Mirror is hanging down looks like the screws to hold it on are broken everything still works but need to get inside to replace screw. thank you
    • zonie77
      9/10/2010 zonie77
I just took mine apart on my 97 so it may not be identical. There is a metal block on the windshield. The mirror has a metal piece that snaps over the w/s part. The metal piece is riveted to the mirror shaft. If the metal piece came off there are no screws, something broke. Inspect it carefully and see if that's the same. If it is you may have to get a replacement from a junkyard.

What is wrong when the blower works but no air comes from the vents on the AC
When I start the car, there is a clicking under the dash. I hear the blower working but no air come from the dash vents but there is air flow from the floor vents

The clicking is the mode door actuator failure. The mode door actuator is what opens and closes the doors that direct where the airflow exits from.

It could be your low pressure cycle switch is going bad. Check the connection to the switch and it's is located on the A/C Accumulator. The other thing to check is the A/C relay. Or sometimes you just need to top off your compressor with refrigerant, don't overfill though

You don't say weather your car has the Auto Temp Control in it . If it does the back side of the Temp Control Module could be burning up. By this I mean the terminals that the plug or plugs are attached to could be overheating. This was common on this model car. ALSO the blower motor plug can burn and loose connection or the Blower motor resister can be burning up at the plug this is located by the blower moter under the dash... Another thing to check is the rubber drain plug on the fire wall, most of the time this is located on the right (passenger side) over time it gets plugged up with leaves and road dirt and will not drain the water going into the heater box from the wipers on the winshield will fill it enough to short out the Blower motor resister and or motor. I would check the Blower motor plug first while it is on grab it and try moving it around a little. If all else fails check the Ground wire from the Motor to the dash. Sometimes people will use this for a good ground for a radio instalation and it has loosened up or possibilly broken loose.

Yes it has automatic temperature control, but i have checked all the connections on the heating and AC i have not found any loose, croded,or burned up connections. the blower worked perfectly today but yesterday it would not come on at all. now in cold weather it will not turn on at all. i'm looking for suggestions on what to check.

OK lets check or better yet replace the outside air temp sending unit. They are not expansive and easy to change. Located in front of your radiator behind the grill. With the hood open you should be able to unplug it and change it. If you are not sure what it looks like buy the new one and match it to the part on the car. With auto controls in your car the system needs to know the outside temp before it will work correctlly.

Everything electrical on these cars these days are all controlled by relays . When you push buttons in your car you are actually energizing these relays which in turn close and put volts and working amps throught them to the inductor they are controlling fuel pumps, headlights, blower motors , etc. These are the work horses they carry the loads so that all the push buttons and digital stuff does not . You need to look for and find the relay for the blower motor swap it with a non essential sytem one that matches and test to see if it will run at all or even consistent . With anything in cars this is where you always want to start . If after replacing relay you have the same problem you need to confirm that the relay is not shutting off this is the fork in the road wether you go torwards the blower motor being bad or the switch controls on dash are causing the problem. In all troubleshooting you always try to verify if something is acting bad due to failure or if its being told to do what it is doing
