I hear a minor to loud grinding sort of sound while accelerating. It is not every time but it is often, any ideas?
This happens when the vehicle is cold or warm. I had my transmission fluid changed by an oil change joint, did they screw up? No check engine lights, or any lights. Car runs absolutely fine.

Need more information - is the sound localized; from under the car? From under the hood? From the front or rear? Is the noise metallic, or a dull thumping? Does the sound change with speed or road conditions?

Use the 'Diagnose' feature on the AutoMD website to capture details and allow proper assistance to resolve the issue you are having.

You can try the fluid flush and fill - you have nothing to lose at this point.

Transmission feels good until car reaches 50-60 mph. I then feel a slight shudder as it shifts into a cruising gear.
After 60 mph it seems to smooth out. If I shift to neutral when it is shuddering it seems to stop and I don't feel it at lower speeds.

What is the cause of a low pitch vibration in drive line when accelerating from a stop?
The sound is audible and also felt. It is like two rubber gears slipping out of connection when you first accelerate briskly. Does not happen when accelerating slowly...yet. It feels like a drive line problem. No other noise associated while driving or braking. ...

Check the following items; front axle hub / hub bearing assemblies (both left and right side), front strut upper mounts, front suspension bushings.

The parts are readily available from these many on-line sources, www.partsgeek.com, www.rockauto.com, www.discountautoparts.com, www.autopartswarehouse.com, www.jcwhitney.com - to list only a few possibilities.
In fact, they (RockAuto) list the front hub bearing assemblies from around $12.00 each for your vehicle.

Thanks for the suggestion. Do the bearings or hub components usually go out this suddenly? Can you elaborate on what causes the noise?
    • Jimm
      7/20/2014 Jimm
These are merely suggestions as to the possible causes / sources of the noise, best to check the front wheels and hub bearings / front suspension / front CV axles to determine the exact source. Use the 'How-To-Guides' feature on the AutoMD website for the diagnosis steps.

Not sure if the bearings or any component has worn suddenly or not on your vehicle - typically, the front wheel bearing wear and failure - is gradual over time and miles driven.
