Why would the brake light on my car not work, but the taillights and blinkers work? And how can this be fixed?
As I was driving, a man in the car next to me motioned and yelled that my brake lights do not work, at least I think this is what he said. I was completely unaware of any problem, as my blinkers and rear lights work fine.

If both the brake lights are not working, the the issue is common to both lights; faulty brake light switch, connection or wiring.
Check the various on-line vendors;,,, to list only a few. For example, they (RockAuto) list the brake switch from around $3.90 for your vehicle.

The brake switch is easily replaced - located on the brake pedal arm under the instrument panel. Reference the 'How-To-Guides' feature on the AutoMD website for the specific steps.

Brakes making grinding noise after car slammed on drivers side wheels?
I was driving on the highway earlier and, to avoid an accident from my brakes partially failed (I pressed down and the brake pedal hit the floor, but they still weren't fully operational), I swerved which caused my drivers side wheels to lift off the ground and slam ...

I would guess that you have some kind of impact damage at the brakes and no amount of advice I can give will narrow it down without someone looking at all of the undercarriage components.
      1/29/2014 Contusion
I inspected the undercarriage, there's no obvious signs of damage in the wheel well or wheel area, and the caliper looks completely intact, as does the little shield surrounding the hub.

Not really - brake rotors which are same as OEM (original equipment) are readily available from the auto parts aftermarket.
Check the many on-line auto parts sources, such as;,, or for the replacement parts. For example, they (RockAuto) list the front brake rotors from around $31.00 each (daily driver) for your vehicle. As long as you purchase a recognized name brand; Akebono, Raybestos, Bendix, Beck-Arnley, Wagner - to name just a few - these brand names would be the same as the brake components installed at the factory.

What was the liquid that leaked when I depressed hard on my brakes?
My car has 133 thousand miles, never had any problems with brakes. This morning I depressed on my brakes very hard and I felt like the front passenger side wheel had a pull, as if it had run over something, but there was nothing. Immediately, I parked the car and ...

Most likely, the fluid noticed was brake fluid - from either the front passenger side brake caliper, or the flexible brake hose at the brake caliper.
As a first step - check the fluid level inside the master cylinder - refill as necessary. Then, closely examine the front brake - especially on the passenger side for the cause and source of the brake fluid leak.

Check the many on-line auto parts sources, such as;,, or for the replacement parts. For example, they (RockAuto) list the front brake caliper from around $52.70 and front flexible brake hose from around $6.30 for your vehicle.

Are the lock pins completely clean and properly lubed?

Thanks for the answer. We found out that there was no clearance between the brake pedal rod and the master cylinder piston so adjusted it. Now we are attacking a throttle hesitation. Thought it was the TPS but it checks out OK. Any suggestions? No check engine light shows up.

To begin with you should have the vehicle put on a hoist and shift it in neutral . Try and spin the wheels individually to see if one or more wheels are dragging due to a seized caliper or stuck brake pads. You can also see if any of the wheels are getting warm or hot by holding your hand close to the wheel after you have stopped the vehicle. Non contact laser thermometers work great for this.
      Hope this helps

I hear a grinding noise in the back of my car when I drive it at low speeds. Any idea what it could be?
I recently changed the break pads and temporarily fixed the problem(3 weeks ago), now the pads are used up on certain parts only and the noise is worse. I think it's the rotors but I would like to be completely sure first.

Check the brake light switch if you are referring to the external lights. Check the brake fluid level if you are referring to the dash light.
