2006 Mitsubishi Eclipse GS 4 Cyl 2.40L

RPM issues or Oil problem?

I'm having an issue with my 2006 Mitsubishi Eclipse GS. After the car warms up to operating temperature, the idle begins to drop. Its normally supposed to idle at 750 rpms but it can drop to about 250 rpms then try to recover and bounce back up to 750, then back down to 200. It will continue doing that until you give it some gas then it goes away. When you're back in idle or neutral, it'll start to hesitate again.

Also, when the RPMs drop below 250, the oil light comes on. Sometimes the car can drop to almost 0 then pick back up. It never actually kills the engine but comes really, really close. It's fine while driving, no problems with acceleration. Only when idling or in neutral.

I bought the car used and have always had this problem. All maintenance schedules have been followed and the oil/filters/spark plug/belt have all been recently changed.

I'm going nuts trying to figure it out. Thanks in advance.

I say idle speed control is bad.
