Use the engine oil and all other fluids listed in the vehicle owners manual. There may be some exact types of fluids as cross reference- such as a different brand of engine oil, or transmission fluid.

Always default to the owners manual and recommended fluid types listed if there is any question.

This "answer" is not only idiotic... IT'S USELESS! Another example of NOT ANSWERING the specific question, Ask an intelligent question here, and what do you get, instead... A COPOUT example of truly lazy NON-ANSWERS, presented as if the imbecilic idiot here had any authority whatever to be able to answer your question... which he cannot! In actual fact, the Jetta owner's manual itself refuses to specify whether petroleum or synthetic oil should be used! Only a "high-quality" oil is suggested!

Careful 'anti-stupid' with the useless diatribe. Where else to find out the VW recommendations but to first chek the vehicle owners manual?

The factory recommended oil change interval for the 2014 VW Jetta is 10,000 miles. However this has to be with an oil that specifically state on the bottle that it has Volkswagen Approval. This means the oil quality is higher then most off the shelf oils and has been tested and approved by VW (Example: VW 502 00).
Check your owners manual to see the exact oil specification you should use for the engine optioned in your Jetta. Different oil specifications are used if it is a gasoline or diesel engine.

Please refer to your owners manual for the recommended oil and oil specification. You can read allot of good information on proper Volkswagen oil weights here: http://www.blauparts.com/vw-oils/vw-oil-weight.html http://www.blauparts.com/vw-oil-change/vw-oil-change.html

Most VW dealers use Castrol 5w40 Syntec Professional for the 2014 Jetta S 2.0.
