2002 Honda S2000 Base 4 Cyl 2.0L - Engine
When my oil comes up to temp. I hear ticking sound up to 2000 RPMs. It is quiet when cold.
I have 100k on the car. I did a valve adjustment which did not solve the noise. The noise does not start untill the engine is up to temp.

When is the last time that you've replaced you engine oil? Did you already check the condition of your engine oil (might be diluted or worn-out)?

I check and change oil often, even went to 20 w50 on last change. The sound came back once the car came to temp. One of my guys thinks i have a timing chain guide going bad. I don't want buy $650 worth of timing chain kit if that's not it.

my gut senses still say lifters....when you adjusted them, did you do it when the engine was cold, or up to operating temp?

They were done cold per specs. I have a Honda service manual for the S2000 printed and did it to the letter. The tick changes speed with the RPM's at idol to 2K. I still can't figure out way there is no noise cold. This has been going on for almost 20K miles
