2007 Nissan Frontier Nismo Off-Road 6 Cyl 4.00L

Transmissions & Drivetrains

irregular shifting of auto transmission

When starting out in low range it delays upshifting and then suddenly slams into the next gear. This happens intermittently, not regularly. Is this an adjustment or something more serious?

First question - what is the transmission fluid level? Have you checked and refilled as necessary?
Next question - how many miles are on the transmission? How many miles since the last service -fluid and filter change?

There are several possibilities; low/incorrect fluid level, dirty transmission fluid, faulty / worn transmission solenoid, worn transmission bands (friction material) - to list only a few.
