How to test a crankshaft position sensor,according to haynes

I have weak fire from all plugs, haynes manual advised on how to check ignition control module as well as crank pos sensor. unplug leads from i.c.m. that go to c.p.s. on cranking it should read 200 milli volts. i got 7. does anyone know if this info is correct or any other way to test a crank pos. sensor? or check an i.c.m.? anyone?????
