How do I reset the onboard computer?
105,000 miles on vehicle. A battery died and after replacement I continually get a "loose fuel cap" error that clears and returns. Replaced gas cap, evap canister, and had the system checked by the dealer. They claim there is no air leak in the system. Also, other error messages will not clear out of memory. You clear them and they return. The dealer says nothing is wrong with those systems and insist the only thing that can be done is change the computer. However, they told me first that the fuse panel was what was wrong and they replaced it without fixing the problem.

Usually the EVAP canister purge valve is to blame. They wont throw any DTCs (trouble codes) and even when running an EVAP test, it will say the system is "normal". They're located right beside the throttle body, and not TOO bad to replace yourself. Also, if you have navigation, I can walk you through clearing the stored message yourself. Hope this helps!
