how much is it to replace the total evap system engine light illuminates when i am on parkway the code says evap system. i am thinking about replacement of the entire system because i have had the problem 6 months ago and 6 months before that, 2 times in 2011 |

Camarozen 3/8/2012 It would be difficult and costly to replace the whole system, and some parts of it (the vent lines and fuel return lines) are not designed to be replaced in some cases. Your shop needs to do a better job of identifying the underlying problem behind the failures, it could be as simple as adjusting the fuel pressure regulator. |

You would have to know exactly what was causing the components in the evap system to fail before making any adjustments. The type of fuel you are using (like E70/E85 or what have you) can cause regular evap systems to fail constantly. Failed sensors causing the engine to run improperly over time can do the same. Careful inspection and diagnosis of the fault and what caused it in the first place is the only way to effect lasting repairs.
