What the P0079 code means?
P0079 indicates an issue that is found when the Engine Control Module (ECM) tries to control the Bank 1 exhaust valve solenoid and finds the system readings to be out of range. Specifically, this code is found when the ECM detects low system voltage.
What causes the P0079 code?
Wire harness shorted to ground
Solenoid shorted to ground
What are the symptoms of the P0079 code?
Symptoms could include a rough idle, choppy acceleration, poor engine performance, and reduced fuel
efficiency accompanied by an illuminated malfunction indicator lamp.
Common mistakes when diagnosing the P0079 code:
Components are frequently replaced in error when a low oil level or oil pressure condition could be the
culprit. The VVT/VCT system utilizes electrical solenoids and engine oil pressure to help activate the valves
What repairs can fix the P0079 code?
Replacing the exhaust valve control solenoid
Repairing or replacing faulty wiring
Repairing connection issues
Replacing the ECM
