What the P2293 code means?
P2293 is an OBD-II generic code for the Engine Control Module (ECM), detecting the injector fuel pressure regulator is not within specification voltages all the time for what the commanded pressures are supposed to be at. There is a difference of commanded fuel pressure and actual pressure sensed by the regulator.
What causes the P2293 code?
Fuel pump output
Restricted or pinched fuel lines / clogged fuel filter
Faulty fuel pressure sensor or electrical wiring
What are the symptoms of the P2293 code?
Decreased engine performance
Engine may stall
Increased fuel consumption
Common mistakes when diagnosing the P2293 code?
Often the fuel pressure regulator is replaced in error when the fuel rail sensor is defective. Techs report that
many fuel pumps and other components have been replaced when a vehicle is simply out of fuel. If the fuel
level gauge is not working properly, the likelihood of this misdiagnosis becomes more prominent.
What repairs can fix the P2293 code?
Replace the fuel filter, if it is clogged.
Replace the fuel pump, if it is not producing enough pressure or fails intermittently.
Replace the fuel pressure regulator sensor 2, if it fails testing.
