Preventive Maintenance

How often do I need to change the transmission fluid with this car?

I just want to double check on this. I usually don't take my car to the dealer for service, especially routine stuff like oil changes. However, I've asked the service department about my Yaris and have been told it has the universal transmission fluid and doesn't need to be changed. However, every time I take it to an EZ-Lube or a Jiffy Lube they suggest it needs to be changed,. They act as if they have never heard of universal fluid and try to tell me the manufacturer recommends it be changed every 30,000 miles. It drives me nuts because I'm certain they don't have a clue what they are talking about and are only trying to sell me the services. However, I'd like to know the following: is there still a point when you do need to change it?

The transmission fluid normally should be changed every or not more than 60,000 miles or as recommended by manufacturer, because the fluid are prone to wear through constant use and its lubrication performance diminish due time and use. I don't believed in a lifetime fluid and with constant use it has to be replaced periodically. Even synthetic oil is not spared and has a service life of 100,000 miles in normal service and 50,000 miles for severe service.
