1995 Ford F-150 Eddie Bauer 6 Cyl 4.9L

Hard starting after 15 to 30 minutes.

The engine will start okay in the morning and sometimes after it's been sitting for a few hours. I tthink it might be a fuel pressure issue because I don't hear the fuel pumps whirling sound like I use to when the iginition is first turned on for a few seconds to pressurize the system. I have replaced the fuel pressure regulator, in-line fuel filter and ran Sea Foam and Marvel Mystery Oil thru both fuel tanks for 3 or 4 tank fill-ups. Originally the check engine light would come on alot especially for the back tank and now after running Sea Foam and MMO it rarely comes on, but I still have the hard starting issue. When it acts up, I had to spray some engine starting fluid into the intake thru one of the vacuum fitting, then it will start. Any help would be appreciated. Also, tthe truck has 211,000 miles, but look's and runs great, so I want to get this problem corrected and go for 300K. It has 4.9L, straight 6 engine. Thanks in advance.

My son's '93 with 5.0 had a bit of hard starting after setting for 15 or 20 minutes after driving. The injectors were leaking by. Next time it is driven and parked for 15-20 minutes have someone else start it while you watch the tailpipe. If you get a puff of BLACK smoke it probably needs the injectors removed, cleaned and tested.
