2003 Ford Taurus SES 6 Cyl 3.0L - Engine
Fuel gauge shows empty when it has gas in my 2003 Ford Taurus SES. Any idea what's wrong?
Check engine light came on and diagnose tool showed it was fuel sensor/fuel pump. Fuel gauge had been showing empty (even though it had gas in tank) when i turned car on for about a month before, but after turning off and back on it would be ok. Replaced fuel pump assembly and fuel filter but still happens sporadically. Any clue what would make the gauge not work all the time?

Typically the fuel pump assembly consists of; the pump, level sender, float, strainer and fuel reservoir. If one of these components have not been replaced, or the sending unit itself is defective - you will have an error in the fuel level, or no sensing at all.
