2008 Ford Focus SE 4 Cyl 2.00L

Ford Focus will not start. Possible ignition problems?

I apologize in advance for my limited knowledge about cars and the fact this situation should have been handled sooner.
I am trying to see if anyone could give me some information or an idea of what's wrong so I can try to find someone to fix it
I have a 2008 Ford focus.
A few months ago I started to notice when starting the car I would need to push the key in slightly harder and turn the key slightly harder when initially starting the car. Once started everything would run fine.
Over the course of 2 or 3 months it would slowly take more attempts to start the car while pushing and turning the key harder.
The car currently will not start regardless of attempts made or pushing and turning the key harder. ( I don't want the key to break off from turning to hard)
The batteries connected and all connections are good and the car is getting power.
Thank you in advance. If I could just get some advice of what to look into first.
I thought maybe the ignition where the key is inserte

The engine needs proper ratios of the following; air, fuel, ignition (spark) to start and run. Before replacing any parts, you must test and diagnose for these conditions.
Test for spark at the spark plugs and at the ingition coils.
Test for air flow at the air filter and intake - no leaks.
Test for fuel pressure and presence at the fuel pump outlet and at the engine fuel rail.

The most common causes that hinders normal starting operation of your Focus are dead key fob battery, dead 12v battery, corrosion on battery terminals, bad alternator, clogged fuel filter, broken starter, blown fuse, empty gas tank, immobilizer error or any fault in the electrical system.
