2004 Volvo XC70 Base 5 Cyl 2.5L

Steering & Suspension

I just had the engine replaced on my Volvo and now two weeks later my Power Steering pump has failed.

Is it possible that the mechanic that installed the engine could have damaged the pump during installation?

Not likely - about the only way the steering pump could have been damaged would be if the steering fluid were not added to the system prior to the engine start-up for the first time.

The parts are readily available from these many on-line sources, www.partsgeek.com, www.rockauto.com, www.discountautoparts.com, www.autopartswarehouse.com, www.jcwhitney.com - to list only a few possibilities.
In fact, they (RockAuto) list the power steering pump from around $103.80 for your vehicle.
