2007 Chevrolet Avalanche LTZ 8 Cyl 5.30L

Engine

engine misfire #6 cylinder

Check engine light came on. pulled codes, # 6 misfire. truck has 114k miles. checked and replaced spark plugs as they were the originals. Still has misfire # 6. Swapped plug wires, still misfire, swapped plugs , still # 6 misfire. If I free rev the engine to redline , the miss goes away , and I can clear codes and drive for about 2 days before the miss comes back. Misfire happens at idle and when taking off from idle. Please help.

P0306 = Misfire in cylinder #6
A code P0306 may mean that one or more of the following has happened:

Defective ignition coil(s)
Bad spark plug(s), spark plug wires, or spark plug boots
Faulty fuel injector(s)
Malfunctioning fuel delivery system (fuel pump, fuel pump relay, fuel injectors, or fuel filter)
Major engine vacuum leak
EGR valve stuck in the wide open position
Clogged EGR ports

Do not simply replace parts - there must be diagnosis and testing to determine the exact cause.
