I would pass on that vehicle

1/ it is too old in my opinion --a car maybe--4x4 you want fairly new

2/ besides the expense --when they tell you your getting a new or fixed
transfer case --what your getting 100% of the time -IS -a Salvage yard unit

Basically someones else's unknown unit or junk worse than yours

I know this because I once owned a transmission shop

I would suggest you only rebuild yours & do it yourself if you want it done correctly

If you drive it at all the loose chain will wear a hole in the one side case cover if it
hasn't already

You will need a case saver installed on the rebuild most likely

Watch the You Tube Video -pass on the vehicle if you have a need to ask
any questions
