2006 Buick Lucerne CXS 8 Cyl 4.60L

Complete loss of power, no electrical at all

My 2006 Buick Lucerne died while running, and now has no electrical, will not turn over when key is turned no clicking noise absolutely nothing, no dash lights, headlights, nothing. Tried jumping it and still nothing, in fact when we tried jumping the jumper cables melted in half. The battery was tested and is dead needs to be replaced, could this be just a bad battery issue, or could it be an alternator issue, or something completely different??

Several possibilities; faulty battery, faulty / worn alternator, faulty / worn alternator drive belt - just to list a few. You really will not know for sure without testing the battery and charging system. If the alternator is replaced, be sure to also replace the drive belt and belt tensioner as a kit - at the same time - cheap insurance.

Try these on-line parts resources; www.autopartsanything.com; www.partsgeek.com; www.Rockauto.com, www.stockwiseauto.com - to list only a few.

In fact, they (RockAuto) list the replacement alternator from around $82.00 (minus core charge) and the drive belt component kit from around $44.00 for your vehicle.
