I need to change my timing belt. Should I do an engine compression test before or after changing the timing belt?
The timing belt poped off while driving the car. I've been told that could sometimes drive the pistons up into the valves and cause damage to the valves. Can I do a compression test before changing the timing belt to see if there are more serious issues? Or do I need to change the timing belt before I can do a compression test?
This vehicle doesn't have an interference engine application.
