1990 Mercedes Benz 300E 2.6 6 Cyl 2.6L - Engine
Why is my car having trouble starting up and hesitating when I step on the gas?
I just bought my car about 4 months ago and it has trouble starting up, especially when then engine is really cold. I rev the engine and when I put it on reverse it tends to just turn off. The temperature gauge also takes a while to get warm and if it is cold my car will turn off completely at stop signs and stop lights. I usually shift to neutral and rev it a tiny bit so it wont turn off but it is turning into a problem. Once the engine starts to heat up sometimes the temperature gauge will start to jump around going from really hot to normal but the car runs good and the engine doesn't smell burned. I have recently changed the oil filter, which was really dirty, but it is still having this problem. The car is in really good shape and I'm thinking it may be the carburetor. No lights are on at all and the car has a new engine. Thank you for any help you can provide!
