why does car quit running?

197,000 miles. put car on mechanics code computer but if car does'nt skip the machine won't give a code. changed computer, coil,(had cracks in it) fuel filter, cam position sensor, crankshaft sensor, added fuel stablizer. going along all is fine and with no warning it acts if it has jumped time(spitting, skipping, and sputtering.) put in neutral and pat gas pedal put does'nt help. finally goes dead. pull over to side of the road cut switch off and wait maybe 10 to15 seconds and car cranks and runs fine. may not do it again for the rest of the day or might do it 2 or 3 more times during the day. i deliver mail so i'm in the car all day. i can't be the only one that has experienced this problem. hope someone can help. thanks

It seems you have all the bases covered, but before i start recc some other things to check, I specifically want confirmation that somebody has removed both battery terminals and cleaned both the posts of the battery and the lead terminals inside and out and confirm that where the positive cable is stripped back and crimped into the lead terminal end that there is no corrosion there. Confirm that this was done as detailed as I explained and then I will continue assisting you with this.

Just take your car for a complete service it may take the whole day ,but its better to find out what the problem early enough instead of making unclear assumptions http://4wheelonline.com/Jeep/Rugged_Ridge.92332
