2006 Lexus IS250 Base 6 Cyl 2.50L

My brakes started grinding after I had a tire repaired. What happened?

I took my car to a chain tire/brake shop to have a tire repaired. That evening after my commute I noticed the grinding noise. I drove the car 1 more time and the noise was way worse. I took it to same chain shop (different location). They said brakes were metal on metal need pads/rotors now. Did the original shop do something? How did my brakes wear down so fast?

Not sure if the shop that repaired the tire just missed the worn brakes - but having the tire repaired does not cause the brakes to wear metal-on-metal; this condition happens over time and long mileage.

Check the many on-line auto parts sources, such as; www.autopartswarehouse, www.carpartswarehouse.com, or www.rockauto.com for the replacement parts. For example, they (RockAuto) list the front brake pads from around $8.00 per axle set, and front brake rotors from around $31.00 each for your vehicle.
